Bulk Fiber Fused Silica UV-VIS
Description
Multimode fibers are available in a wide range of core diameters, numerical apertures (NA), and operating wavelengths. We manufacture borosilicate fiber, by far the most popular fiber, with our state of the art drawing tower. We use high transmission core preforms to transmit the brightest white light. This fiber is available for bulk purchase, generally in 1/4″ diameter bundles 19.5 (or 39) feet long. NA’s available are .22, .25, .55, and .66. We stock fused silica (sometimes referred to as quartz) fibers for transmission in the UV and IR, but are more expensive. Popular in spectrometry, we stock .22NA fiber in the following standard core sizes: 50um, 100, 200, 400, 600, 1000, and 1500um. Also some of these core sizes are available with NA’s of .12, .28, .37, and .48. Plastic fiber is an alternative to borosilicate fiber. With an NA of .50, it can be used in visible/low heat applications. We stock the following diameters: 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1500, and 2000um. Exotic fibers such as Fluoride(ZBLAN), Chalcogenide, Silver Halide, and Sapphire are available for Mid and Far IR applications. From the visible to the infrared, FSI’s engineering staff can determine what material is best suited for your application.
