Description
OF-136 is a low refractive index primary coating material, developed for the cladding of optical fibers. The material is designed to be compatible with Optical fiber Drawing Towers. OF-136 includes a proprietary adhesion promoter that improves adhesion to the silica core of the fiber, especially under wet conditions (e.g. hot water immersion test). It was designed to enable significantly longer shelf life, compared to previously available adhesion promoters.

OF-136 is a low refractive index primary coating material designed for the cladding of optical fibers.
The proprietary adhesion promoter in OF-136 improves adhesion to the silica core of the fiber, especially under wet conditions.
In its liquid state, OF-136 has a refractive index of 1.359 at 589 nm, a density of 1.58 g/cm3, and a viscosity of 2200 cps at 25°C.
OF-136 should be stored in glass bottles, kept closed to avoid moisture penetration, and stored at ambient conditions of 10-30ºC.
OF-136 is applied in optical fiber drawing towers and cured under nitrogen using a UV source in the range of 300-400 nm. A dose of 1000-2000 mJ/cm2 is typically necessary for curing.
