ArmD® UV Shaped, ArmD® NIR Shaped
Description
Armadillo’s angular core silica optical fibers exhibit exceptional performance and transmission to ArmD® UV/NIR fibers with circular core geometry. Their excellent image scrambling and minimal focal ratio degradation make them ideal for astronomy applications. When paired with diode lasers producing square-shaped outputs, these square core fibers offer superior coupling efficiencies compared to circular fibers. In laser applications like surface pre-treatment, their square output beam allows for more uniform material processing, reducing reliance on beam shaping optics.

Frequently Asked Questions
No, there is no need for laser beam focusing optics when using ArmD® UV Shaped, ArmD® NIR Shaped
ArmD® UV Shaped is an excellent choice for applications that include diode laser coupling and many more.
Non-circular fibers like ArmD® UV Shaped UV offer advantages due to providing maximum packing density for input and output. They are very suitable for connections to angular sources and receivers, such as diode lasers. The angular-shaped core provides consistent short-distance homogenization input power distribution.
The same cross-section ratio of the core provides higher flexibility compared to round fibers.
ArmD® UV Shaped has high resistance against laser damage.
