Antireflective Coatings
Description
Coursen Coating Labs offers many coatings consisting of transparent thin film structures with alternating layers of contrasting refractive index. Layer thicknesses are chosen to produce destructive interference in the beams reflected from the interfaces, and constructive interference in the corresponding transmitted beams. A wavelength range must be specified when designing or ordering such coatings, but good performance can often be achieved for a relatively wide range of frequencies. Our most asked for AR coating is our Broadband Anti-Reflective Coating (BBAR). At normal incidence, this coating typically boasts a reflection average of 0.5% between 425-675nm, covering most of the visual range. The transmission will vary depending on the substrate used. Frequently Asked Questions
An antireflective coating is a type of optical coating applied to the surface of lenses and other optical elements to reduce reflection and improve efficiency.
Antireflective coatings consist of transparent thin film structures with alternating layers of contrasting refractive index. These layers are designed to produce destructive interference in the reflected beams and constructive interference in the transmitted beams, reducing reflection.
The Broadband Anti-Reflective Coating (BBAR) typically has a reflection average of 0.5% between 425-675nm, covering most of the visual range.
The antireflective coatings offered by Coursen Coating Labs have high transmittance, low reflectivity, durability, and are easy to clean.
The antireflective coatings are available on Soda Lime, Borosilicate, water white, IR materials, and crystalline materials. They can be customized to various sizes and shapes using the quote form provided.
