NIR bandpass filters SP are used in various optical sensor applications. They block the visible ambient light on one hand and the long-wave infrared light on the other hand. Only the selected signal or measuring light from the near infrared (NIR) range may be transmitted. NIR bandpass filters SP are therefore key components in achieving excellent signal-to-noise ratios, which are relevant for optical measurements, distance measurement applications, or specific systems for gesture recognition (TOF, Time-of-Flight). These characteristics facilitate either precise distance measurement with a lower signal light intensity or measurements with increased sensitivity and higher precision at normal signal light intensity. Depending on the specific application and the utilized light source, the NIR bandpass filter can be customized in collaboration with the client in a cost-efficient manner. In addition, these filters can be equipped with patterned black chrome plating in order to further suppress interfering stray light or facilitate the measurement of pre-defined structures.
