Zygo Aspherical Lenses
Description
Aspheres – precision aspherical opticsmanufactured by ZYGO's Optics business segment – can be manufactured in sizes up to 500 mm, with tolerances better than λ/5000 RMS @ 633 nm. In the digital age, aspheres are growing in popularity in modern optical lens designs.Aspheric surfaces can now be found in most IR designs, and are increasingly prevalent in the visible and DUV spectrum for a range of consumer, defense , medical and semiconductor applications. High endaspheric surfaces are also increasingly critical in lithography lenses.

Frequently Asked Questions
Aspherical lenses are precision optics that can be manufactured in sizes up to 500 mm with tolerances better than λ/5000 RMS @ 633 nm.
Aspherical lenses have a wide range of applications including interferometry, metrology, imaging, machine vision, spectroscopy, and laser optics.
Aspherical lenses are a cost-effective way of reducing the number of optical elements in a system. They can cancel or control spherical aberration, allowing more energy to be concentrated into a smaller area.
Aspherical lenses can be up to 600mm in diameter, have non-circular shapes, and have wavefront accuracy up to lambda/20 P-V at 633nm. They have a surface quality of 10/5 Microroughness typically less than 1.2nm RMS.
Optical Surfaces supplied high-quality lenses from 50mm to 370mm focusing elements for the Orion program, which is designed to support a wide field of scientific exploration including particle acceleration, X-ray laser research, and the production of short-lived isotopes.
