Frequently Asked Questions

Glass apertures may be used in situations that may require transparency, non-conductance, or non-isolation. Applications may include phase-sifting, microscopy, MEMS and anodic bonding. These apertures have diverse applications in the telecom, medical, pharmaceutical, and optical industries.

The aperture tolerances are indicated in the chart and range from 3 to 5 microns depending on the aperture.

The diameter of the glass apertures is 9.5mm +0.025 / -0.050mm (0.374in +0.000984 / -0.00197in). The thickness ranges from 0.013 - 0.050mm (0.000512 - 0.00197in) depending on the material used.

The centering of the glass apertures is PP or LQ depending on the aperture.

Our glass apertures are now also available in the #1 coverslip material Thermanox (Please Request a Quotation for Thermanox). The standard aperture materials are SS-302/304 per ASTM A666 (blackened finish per SOP 037-black), SS-302/304 per ASTM A666 (flat white finish per SOP 037-white), glass (borosilicate), and PTFE Teflon.
