Frequently Asked Questions

The benefits of using the DIAS-1600 include quantitative retardation/birefringence or stress measurements in a user-friendly, menu-driven PC format, elimination of errors and decisions based on the user's visual judgement, reproducible and accurate results, easy calibration, user-defined pass/fail thresholds and identification of min/max values, configurable scaling and data storage options, and a quick analysis feature for multiple "like" samples (requires fixturing).

The components included in the DIAS-1600 package are a polarized illuminator/sample stage with support post, swing-out analyzer assembly, camera assembly (including lens, filters, and CCD camera) and adjustable mount, camera power supply, camera cables (1 each for connecting to AC power and to PC), video frame grabber board installed in PC, desktop computer with flat-panel LCD color monitor, DIAS-1600-2 Stress Analysis Software, verification retarder/linear scale reference, and plane or circular polarization (specify).

The DIAS-1600 Digital Image Analysis System, or Stress Analyzer, is used for stress inspection applications in products such as optical components, lenses, annealed parts, glass seals, TV glass, etc.

The DIAS-1600 has a retardation measuring range of approximately 0-280 nm (ABS) or +/-140 nm (Bias mode, plane polarization).

Options available for the DIAS-1600 include other light sources, immersion cells, video zoom lenses, custom software, special sample fixturing, power conditioner, and tint plates for visual inspection.
